With Mother’s Day just around the corner, everyone is looking for the perfect gift. Stores will offer expensive flowers and restaurants will be crowded with families celebrating the typical Mother’s Day fancy brunch.
Yes, gestures are important because we want to give this special person something memorable and impressive. Yet, we don’t realize that the most memorable gift is the mother-child bond. This year I will celebrate my first Mother’s Day, and I certainly don’t expect my ten-month old son to wake me up with flowers or take me to a nice meal! I never imagined that simple things such as his first smiles and giggles, his first steps and milestones will have such a strong impact on my day-to-day life. I still remember, once a good friend of mine told me “You have to become a mother to understand what it feels like! It is a feeling that can’t be described.” Now, I understand what she meant. Not only I relate to her, but I can also relate to my own mother. After many diapers, sleepless nights and loud play dates, I am excited to celebrate my first Mother’s Day!
What are you looking forward to? How will you celebrate your Mother’s Day?
